Dr Fong Shee Yan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1996. He completed his advanced specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003, winning the prestigious N Balachandran Award for Outstanding Orthopaedic Trainee (Singapore Orthopaedic Association, Nov 2003). He subsequently went on to complete a clinical/research fellowship in Spine Surgery in the renowned Calgary Spine Center in Canada from 2004 to 2005 and has been practising as a Consultant in Spine Surgery since 2005.
His sub-specialty area of training is in spine surgery. Aside from performing corrective surgery for scoliosis, common conditions managed by and common procedures performed by Dr Fong include minimally invasive spine operations performed as day surgery cases and not requiring hospitalization, like:
- Micro-discectomy and percutaneous discectomy for slipped disc
- Vertebroplasty for fractures of the spine
- Facet joint and pars inter-articularis injections
Dr Fong’s set up Singapore’s first day surgery spine service in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, with 24-hour discharge after elective lumbar disc surgery, and in the process winning a merit award during the Clinical Quality Improvement Celebration Poster Competition (Ministry of Health, Oct 2007)

Lydia is a Foreign Member of the American Academy of Orthotist & Prosthetist and an Accredited SpineCor® Scoliosis Bracing Specialist & Consultant. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce – Double Major in Finance & Marketing from Curtin University.
Lydia has over 5 years experience in treating scoliosis spine bracing, 7 years in general orthotic & prosthetic services. She is was also a consultant in the SpineCor brace clinical trial research in scoliosis brace with KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Aside from scoliosis, she also treats spine with brace for osteoporosis, fracture , degeneration for adults

Sylvia is an Accredited SpineCor Physiotherapist. Sylvia has a Master of Physiotherapy from University of Melbourne in 1999 and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from University of Sydney in 1994.
Sylvia is a regular writer on health matters. She has been interviewed for articles by newspapers and health magazines such as The Straits Times, Shape, Ezyhealth, Her World and Female magazines. Sylvia’s current interests are to treat and reduce recurrence of back and neck pains through manual therapy and core stability exercises. Her current passion is to further raise the standard and quality of physiotherapy by continuing to push for improved skills in the area of diagnosis and effective treatment techniques amongst her peers. She remains actively involved in educational talks to the public, clubs and fitness centres and is a champion for core stability.
